Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness

Updated 2014/09/01

Welcome to September everyone! For those of you going back to school, we’d just like to remind you that we have quiet study spaces available for both individual study and group work. Just remember to give us a little notice!

September means the return of our wonderful fall programs, first of which is the Bridge Club. On Friday the 5th (and all following Fridays), we are hosting, you guessed it, bridge from 10:00am to 12:00pm. For registration, please contact Jean Elder at 537-0897 or Ruth Hopping at 537-9682.

September also means gardening galore! And our featured author knows all about that. Linda Gilkeson earned a Ph.D. in Entomology from McGill University in 1986 then moved to British Columbia to work for Applied Bio-Nomics Ltd., a company that produces biological controls. From 1991 to 2002, she worked for the provincial government, promoting programs to reduce and eliminate pesticide use. Her books are all about harvesting and cultivating the natural way. For more information, you can visit her feature page or her website.

So don’t be sad that summer is coming to a close! Just come to the library whenever you need cheering up. Take a look at our calendar. Isn’t it lovely?
