Knights, Tiles, Mics, Photographers and Authors
Today at 2:00 is the return of our Chess and Scrabble club of the season. These timeless passtimes are proof that strategies and words are really just fun and games. Just make note that it’s BYOB: Bring Your Own Board.
On Thursday night, we will see the comeback of our Open Mic Poetry Night. Sign up starts at 6:45 and it’s first come first serve, so if you want to lay down the rhymes you better be there on time. Poetry will start at 7:00, followed by the readings of guest poet Sandi Johnson. She will be reading from her work, The Wonderful Naked Man, as well as from her work in progress.
After all that, if you still don’t have enough art in your life, we have the next installment of the Doors on Perception photography seminar series. Explore the question, “what is photography?” in this free seminar on Sunday. For more information, visit the info page.
If photography isn’t your cup of tea, you should check out this week’s featured author – Kevin Patterson. Though born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Patterson spent most of his young life in Selkirk, Manitoba. In order to put himself through medical school at the University of Manitoba, he enlisted in the Canadian army. From his experiences as a doctor both in Canada and abroad, Patterson has drawn inspiration to write four books, both fiction and nonfiction. To learn more, visit his feature page.
