Workshops and Book Clubs
The one constant in life is change. This month we had to change the meeting date of our Youth Book Club, which is now happening this Wednesday.
The Youth Book Club is meeting this Wednesday, the 19th of November, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm in the Teen Room (room 106).
This Month’s book is The Giver by Lois Lowry, a Newbery Medal winning novel, set in a dystopian society where the “Sameness” has eradicated emotional depth from people’s lives. It tells the story of Jonas, a young teenage boy, chosen to be the Receiver of Memory, who holds all the past memories of the time before the Sameness.
On Wednesday evening Social Thinking Therapist Judith Barnett is running an Autism Workshop in the Program Room. Judith will be giving a presentation and practical demonstration, talking about the nuts and bolts of Autism and how you can:
- increase your toolbox of knowledge to help your child
- strategies to help you include your child in more daily living partnerships
- communication tips
- daily living skills tips
This event is free and open to the public.
