The Long Walk by Jan Zwicky

Jan Zwicky is one of Canada’s most distinguished poets. She has published over a dozen books both of poetry and philosophy and received the Governor General’s award for her work. She describes her newest book, The Long Walk, as “hellfire and brimstone enviro-politics” though in truth her justifiable distress over what we are doing to the natural world is tempered with the fine lyric voice and vision that have always animated her writing. So the book is as much a tender, terrified lament for the imperiled world as a condemnation of its imminent destruction. Anne Michaels says about Jan Zwicky’s new book: “The Long Walk carries a lifetime’s force of meaning. A deeply beautiful book.”
