Women in the Colonial Era

The Salt Spring Island Historical Society is honoured to welcome Snumithiya Jillian Harris for her talk “Women in the Colonial Era”. Jill Harris is a knowledge holder, Elder, and former Chief of the Penelakut Tribe. Among her current projects, Elder Harris is working with the search for residential school missing children. Her studies in ancestry, researching lineages and family histories, has fostered a special interest in the lives of women in the early days of colonization which she will share in her presentation.
