Diana Hayes

Diana Hayes was born in 1955 Toronto and has lived on both coasts of Canada.  She studied at University of Victoria and U.B.C., receiving a BA and MFA in Creative Writing. She has five published books, including This is the Moon’s Work: New and Selected Poems published in 2011 by MTP and “Labyrinth of Green”, published by Plumleaf Press Summer 2019.  She co-edited the poetry anthologies, “Two of Swords” and “Coming Home”.  Her poetry was included in the anthologies “Full Moon”, “Rocksalt”, “Forcefield”, “111 West Coast Literary Portraits”, and “Sweet Water: Poems for the Watersheds” (forthcoming Spring 2020).  Her narrative photography has been featured in galleries in costal BC and commissioned for book covers.  Her practice of year-round ocean swimming inspired the formation of the Salt Spring Seals in 2002.  Salt Spring Island has been home since 1981.
