Poetry Open Mic

Arleen Paré began to write poetry mid-life as she was about to retire from working two decades in social services in Vancouver. She received an MFA in poetry from UVic. In 2014, she won the Governor Generals Award for Poetry for her third collection, “Lake of Two Mountains”. She has written over ten books of poetry; her next collection will be released in 2025. Her Selected Works (drawn from earlier collections) will be available early 2026. She lives in Victoria with her wife, Chris Fox, and periodically spends time on Mayne Island.
