Saturday Writing Sessions

Writing in Community

Writers, do you struggle with staying motivated, with setting and achieving your goals, with finding others who understand the unique challenges of getting words on the page – even with simply starting a writing project?

The Salt Spring Library, in conjunction with local fiction writer and self-published author, Liza Keogh, is offering weekly “write-ins” beginning Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10-12:00 in the Library Community Program room.

What’s a “write-in”?

A structured event beginning with a brief check-in, followed by two 40-minute writing sessions divided by a 5-minute break, and ending with another check-in. This is a time to be in the company of other writers as they work; to tap into group energy and use it to get you started, or through a jam.

The opening check-in is an opportunity to share what you plan to work on during the writing sessions; the closing check-in provides a moment to reflect on how things went, post your word count, or share something you struggled with.

Bring your writing tools (laptop and charging cord; notebooks, etc.), water in a closed container, and any props you need to sit and work comfortably.

Please note: This is not a critique group. You will not be reading your writing aloud, nor will you be required to read others’ work.
