Bookkeeping Contractor Opportunity

Salt Spring Island Public Library is looking for a bookkeeping contractor to work Monday and Friday mornings at the Library on an ongoing basis and to work relief during Administrator vacation.   There is a possibility of increasing hours and succession to up to a full-time administrative/finance management position within three to five years for the right candidate.

Skills required:

  • General bookkeeping and knowledge of basic accounting principles, financial statements, and payroll
  • Experience with QuickBooks desktop and QuickBooks Online
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Moderate skill level in Excel

Duties:

  • Posting Accounts Payable and paying biweekly
  • Payroll biweekly
  • Monitoring and posting expenses related to grants posted to deferred revenue liability
  • Weekly cash reconciliations and deposits
  • Monthly MasterCard and bank reconciliations
  • Accepting donations, posting for tax receipts, and maintaining accurate records
  • Monitoring emails, retrieving invoices online
  • Assisting Administrator, Library Director with other duties as required

Remuneration:

$23- $26 / hour depending on experience

Schedule:

  • August start – Orientation to accounts posting, reconciliations, accounts payable and payroll  Monday and Friday AM, 2- 4 hours /day, depending on experience.
  • Vacation relief in late Sept to Oct 21 , 4 hours /day.  Monday, Wednesday (if required) and Friday AM
  • After that ongoing – Every Monday and Friday AM  3 – 6 hours /day
