The Salt Spring Island Public Library is staffed mostly by volunteers (about 140 of them) with a paid chief librarian and a paid librarian. The neighbours you meet at the circulation desk and the librarian’s desk are backed by many other volunteers who select, catalogue and shelve the library’s collection, process interlibrary loan requests and perform the many other tasks that keep the library functioning smoothly.
New volunteers are always needed and encouraged to apply, as there are many different positions available with training provided.
Many of the positions require no previous experience. Training is given as required.
